£107m for Kaka to Man City
Published by DSAdmin on January 17, 2009
I’m all for a side chasing a dream, and we all know that Man City fans stifled by years of failure and plagued by jealousy that the success of other half of Manchester incites needs something to raise them from the doldrums of the mediocre side they have become. What will it take to transform Man City into a competitive side you may ask. £107m, that is the number that Manchester City is tossing around in an audacious bid to land AC Milan’s Brazilian superstar Kaka. This apparently is the magic bullet that will turn Man City into an EPL title contender and a Champions League somebody….
If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that Man City would sign Robinho and further pay in excess of £107m for Kaka, I’d have laughed in your face and told you that it there was just as much chance of me booking a flight on the Virgin spaceship to the moon. Now however, that trip on the spaceship looks likely. The Abu Dhabi United group has swooped in to save Man City and apparently has riches beyond compare to do so. Madness, or a slipping grip on reality, whatever it is, it afflicts these guys. They seem to think that paying exorbitant sums of money for these players will auto-magically transform their new found project into an instant winner.
Last I checked, even with Robinho in the side, they sat at 15th in the table. Manchester City needs a reality check and it comes in the form of what may become a fight to stay up in the premiership if they’re not careful. They face Wigan this weekend, a side under Steve Bruce that is playing well and not spending millions of pounds. As a football fan I cannot help but watch with excitement as one of the worlds best footballers is wooed into the EPL. It would be great to watch Robinho and Kaka take on Christiano Ronaldo and Rooney, or Lampard and Deco.
Reality Check! £107m and 500K/week for one player! that is absolutely ridiculous. These guys need to have their heads checked, at what point does it become just a ludicrous farce? With that kind of money these guys should be doing stuff like curing cancer, eradicating poverty, fixing the ozone layer, exploring the bottom of our oceans, colonizing space, or even better yet building a teleporter!
A move like this makes fans of the game wonder what they’re doing supporting teams who just keep raising prices, deal for lucrative TV and advertising contracts, and enable prima-donna football players and coaches who care more about their ferraris and pedicures than what the fans of the game think.

Kaka to Sunderland, with Roy Keane returning as a coach/player. The mayor is going to sell the entire city to AC Milan for the exchange.
Kaka/Keane – possibly the greatest footballing combination since Darren Moore and Kieran Richardson of Derby in 2007/08.
