Yesterday we learned about some of the features on Jared Montz Online Soccer Academy but
the innate cleverness of Jared’s idea is that there are videos for players ranging from those who are new to the game and starting with the basics, up to skills specifically designed for those players who are playing at a high collegiate level and who have hopes of becoming a professional footballer. Jared uses his years of expertise to teach the basics and fundamentals of the game and each week subscribers to the academy receive two or three videos outlining key skills to learn. Just like any young soccer fan who watches his idols on the screen and then takes to their back garden to emulate what they see on the screen, Jared allows his academy pupils to do just that, with the added benefit of his expertise and guidance on just how to perform the skills. How many young professionals would have loved to have had a professional player giving them guidance on key skills and training tips to make them a better player? Thanks to Jared’s vision, this is now a very real possibility.

However there is so much more to the Academy than the tutorials. Jared is keen to foster an environment that is safe for children, which is wholly interactive, supportive of them and their achievements and yet maintains a cool and attractive feel with links to “Montz TV”, Jared’s own blog and podcasts as well as links to his pro soccer shop selling Jared Montz Soccer Academy Merchandise. “The site is very interactive and has a taste of social media to it” explains Jared. “For safety reasons, because I have players from ages 5-18 on the site, all of their profile information is private and I go to great lengths to ensure parents are comfortable with the security we have on the site for their children. Players can keep their own profile up to date with juggling chart and their team information and game reviews. If a subscriber has a problem they can message me via the message centre and I respond personally. I get messages all the time saying hello, asking a question, seeking advice about soccer or just talking about a recent game that was on TV. To the academy subscriber it feels like a 1 to 1 connection and from my point of view, it is me and however many kids I have in the academy. This makes it very personal for each player.”

With a growing base of young academics signing up, Jared has big plans for his online soccer academy. Jared is fully focused on providing quality content for his players, as well as keeping them up to date via his blog and the Montz TV show. All the signs are that Jared’s tenacity and infectious will to be successful will ensure he is as big a success with his academy as he was in achieving his dream to be a professional.

A dream that has now come to an untimely end. Jared revealed to us today and in an emotional blog post on his website, that he has been forced to retire from professional football due to the recurrent injuries he sustained as a professional player. “I gave it my all and eventually my body just couldn’t take it anymore. Maybe I could have been just a regular player and dealt with my injury limitations but I didn’t want to do that. I am the type of person who puts everything I have into what I do and if I couldn’t play soccer at 100% then it was time to say goodbye. It was a sad decision to make because I love playing but thankfully I have my players, my camps and my Online Soccer Academy to keep me very involved in the game.”
As one of Jared’s dreams ends, another begins and many young children, who dream of one day taking to the field alongside their soccer heroes or who just want to play the game to a higher level, could find their prospects greatly enhanced by subscribing, watching and listening to the wise words of a former soccer professional, who achieved just that. Jared’s catchphrase is “Believe in it”. It seems that the self-determination and drive that saw him achieve his dreams as a soccer player, will also see him make a huge success of the Jared Montz Online Soccer Academy.

Hey Jared, maybe you should set up an online academy for weekend warriors who are way past their prime, but need help to at least keep them playing as they get older :)
