Can you be a Gaffa better than Rafa?

Published by Ian John on October 21, 2009

A fantastic, fun game where you can step into the shoes of Rafa Benitez and pretend to be manager of Liverpool Football Club! This is your chance to inherit the role of leader of one of the world’s biggest clubs and try and lead them onto the right path for silverware and glory!

Q1. A quick look at your squad reveals that apart from your injury prone World Class striker, you don’t really have many options in attack, bar a young French lad who resembles a startled fawn. Do you…

A. Regret selling the likes of Peter Crouch and Craig Bellamy, they’d have been pretty useful for you now.
B. To hell with it, we’ll play someone out of position and see what happens.
C. Attempt to buy another defensive midfielder like Gareth Barry

Q2. You buy a Dutch striker called Dirk Kuyt who has scored plenty of goals in Dutch football over the years. He has a tremendous work rate and tries really hard from the team, so you…

A. Persevere with him in attack in the hope he can score goals in the long run, especially since we’ve no bugger else.
B. Convert him to a willing, hard running, right sided midfielder and upset Jermaine Pennant along the way.
C. Attempt to buy another defensive midfielder like Lucas Leiva.

Q3. You’ve just had to sell your favourite defensive midfielder to a big European club and have £20m in your pocket to fill a desperate need in your team. Do you;

A. Use your contacts to try and swing a deal for a brilliant attack minded midfielder like David Silva from Valencia
B. Have faith in the young players you’ve brought to the club and are coming through the ranks, like Spearing, Plessis, Lucas
C. Spend £20m on an unproven and often injured Italian who is not going to be able to play until November at the earliest.

Q4. There’s a big problem at the club. You don’t have any money left. Who is to blame?

A. You, after all you’ve had almost as much money as Man Utd to spend and have blown it on this squad.
B. The Board : They won’t just let me have money when I want it to spend on what I want, when I want.
C. The Board : They after all chose the players and brought them here. I had nothing to do with it.
D. The Youth Academy : Erm. Because they haven’t produced 15 Lionel Messi’s in the past 10 years.

Q5. After four straight defeats, your season looks like it could be over in October. Your best players are injured and you face a make or break game at home to your fierce rivals at the weekend with a squad that you have assembled expensively but who look about as likely to win this game as a chipmunk is to disprove the theory of evolution. Do you:

A. Pray, use faith healers, cry and moan about injuries being the worst they’ve ever been and ignore the fact that you have assembled the rest of the squad that is supposed to be able to cover for injuries.
B. We’ve got nothing to lose, so what the hell. Stick the kids in and see what happens.
C. Attempt to buy another defensive midfielder like Javier Mascherano

Q6. Your defender Jamie Carragher is in terrible form and has admitted that himself. For a crucial European tie at home to Lyon, following on the back of two league defeats, do you;

A. Drop his partner Martin Skrtel. He is uglier so it was probably his fault anyway.
B. Drop Jamie Carragher to the bench. No player gets picked on name alone. Not at this club. Besides the rest will do him good.
C. Attempt to buy another injured defensive midfielder like Alberto Aquilani.

If you picked Mostly A’s B’s or C’s, it doesn’t really matter. You couldn’t do a much worse job at the minute.
